Climbing Gym Staff

Position Overview Fiddlehead is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Climbing Gym Staff members to deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining the safety and operations of our climbing facility. The ideal candidate will combine technical climbing knowledge with strong customer service skills and a commitment to creating a welcoming environment for all guests.

Employment Status

  • Full-Time or Part-Time | On-site | Rate: Based on experience
  • Initial 90-day part-time period with opportunity for full-time transition based on performance
  • Reports directly to General Manager

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required
  • Previous climbing experience preferred
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • CPR and First Aid certification required
  • Belay certification and ability to teach proper technique
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Responsibilities:

Guest Services and Operations

  • Serve as primary point of contact for facility information, check-in, services, retail, and outfitting
  • Manage daily operations including:
    • Guest check-ins and waiver processing
    • Member services and account management
    • Retail and rental transactions
    • Facility monitoring and maintenance
  • Utilize Rock Gym Pro / Approach software for:
    • Check-in procedures
    • Waiver management
    • Membership updates
    • Sales transactions
    • Rental equipment tracking

Safety and Facility Management

  • Conduct regular safety checks and hazard assessments
  • Monitor and maintain:
    • Facility climbing gear
    • Rental equipment quality
    • Stock levels for retail, food, and beverages
  • Implement safety protocols and procedures
  • Perform belay tests according to facility standards
  • Ensure compliance with all facility policies and regulations
  • Communicate safety concerns to staff and guests

Event and Program Support

  • Assist with evening, weekend, and membership events
  • Support special programs and initiatives
  • Collaborate with team on facility improvements
  • Maintain welcoming and organized spaces

Administrative Duties

  • Utilize Approach for:
    • Schedule management
    • Availability updates
    • Team communications
  • Monitor email and text communications
  • Complete assigned daily tasks
  • Maintain accurate records of:
    • Safety inspections
    • Equipment checks
    • Incident reports
    • Inventory levels

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to demonstrate and assess climbing techniques
  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Lifting and moving equipment (up to 50 lbs)
  • Capability to perform safety checks and equipment inspections
  • Physical stamina for active work environment
