FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What Happened to the Gym?
Hurricane Helene affected all of Western North Carolina in devastating ways. Our Facility, although hundreds of feet away from the French Broad River, suffered heavy flooding. Our padding in the climbing gym was destroyed, every bit of drywall and insulation was moldy, the covered bike park sealant was severely damaged, the central bar top was destroyed. While there was no loss of life, we’ve had to shut down since the end of September in order to make repairs and rebuild certain portions of the facility.
Are you Reopening? When?
Yes, we’re reopening soon! We are currently in the process of restoring the gym back to its previous condition, as well as making some upgrades along the way. We want to be back up and running as soon as possible and bring you all back into the facility! That being said, we’re most focused on sanitation and safety. With that in mind, we’ve had to work diligently with so many local contractors to ensure that the highest level of cleanliness is achieved as we think about a timeline of when to bring people back in.
What are your new policies?
We’re working vevry hard to maintain and even create more of a family friendly atmosphere at Fiddlehead, to that point we’re now asking that our guests wear shirts at all time. Also we’re now considering this an alcohol and tobacco free campus. We want to solely promote a healthy and active lifestyle with our organization and we will be replacing the central bar with Smoothies, local made healthy food, and Coffee / Tea. Yum!
Will there be a camp this summer?
We’re so excited to host your children for summer camp this year, we’ll be releasing information on this very shortly!
Is the bike park ok?
The bike park suffered heavy damage from the flood waters. All of the sealant on the course inside the covered area was cracked and chipped. After many professional opinions and lots of deliberation, we believe we’ve come up with the perfect solution for how to move forward with getting the covered bike park back in operation for our re-opening! Stay tuned, this one is exciting. We will be working on the outdoor jump track next but we know how much effort it will take to restore this back to a functional state, so we’ll keep you up-to-date, but this will be our priority after the rest of the facility is opened again.
Hours? Closed on Saturdays?
We are now going to be closed from Sundown on Friday to Sundown on Saturday. We see this as a perfect time for not only our members to get outside and enjoy themselves away from the Facility, but also want to extend this day of rest and outdoor fulfillment to our staff. We’ve adjusted our monthly rates to reflect this day off from service.
Will you still be hosting my Affinity Group climbing sessions?
Fiddlehead is happy to host your Affinity Group monthly, while we’re unable to close down the gym to members during this time for every group, we’re happy to help you market the event as well as reserve the conference room for your group for the evening and we’ll continue to extend a $10 rate for each attendee.
What's Community night?
We’re going to host a monthly community night where anyone and everyone is welcome to come enjoy our Facility for $10 / person. We’ll be scheduling this monthly so be on the lookout!
What about Yoga and fitness classes?
Fitness programs will return to the upstairs studios soon as we’re currently focused on getting the climbing gym and bike park recovered from Hurricane Helene. Luckily the upstairs of our facility wasn’t affected by the storm, but our priority has been renovations on the climbing gym, workout facility, bathroom facility, and covered bike area.
