Bike Coach

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Bike Coach to support our Head Coach in developing athletes and fostering a positive team environment. This role combines hands-on coaching with administrative support to ensure the success of our cycling program.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience coaching or competitive cycling experience
  • Strong foundation in cycling fundamentals across disciplines
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification required
  • Experience working with youth athletes preferred
  • Basic knowledge of bike mechanics and maintenance
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

Training Support

  • Assist Head Coach in implementing training programs for various skill levels
  • Lead small group training sessions under Head Coach supervision
  • Demonstrate proper cycling techniques and safety protocols
  • Support skill assessments and provide feedback to athletes
  • Help maintain training equipment and ensure safety compliance

Program Support

  • Assist in documenting athlete progress and maintaining training logs
  • Help coordinate practice schedules and team communications
  • Support team events and competition preparations
  • Assist with basic bike maintenance and equipment checks
  • Participate in team building activities

Competition Support

  • Assist Head Coach during competitions and events
  • Help with race day logistics and athlete preparation
  • Support pre and post-race activities
  • Aid in equipment transport and setup
  • Provide basic mechanical support during events

Administrative Support

  • Help maintain accurate attendance and participation records
  • Assist in organizing team communications and updates
  • Support parent meeting preparation and execution
  • Aid in equipment inventory and management
  • Help document incident reports and safety concerns

Required Skills

  • Solid bike handling skills across multiple disciplines
  • Basic understanding of youth athletic development
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Ability to follow established protocols and procedures
  • Basic proficiency with training software and apps
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration abilities
  • Availability for weekend and evening sessions
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Must pass background check and drug screening

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to ride and demonstrate techniques for multiple hours
  • Capable of lifting and moving equipment up to 40 pounds
  • Basic bike maintenance capabilities
  • Able to work in various weather conditions
  • Sustained physical activity throughout training sessions

This position reports directly to the Head Cycling Coach and works collaboratively with the coaching team to support program objectives.
